Eligibility Criteria

You must have your own place of residence with one of the following household bills/utilities in your name: rent, water, power.

If you reside in the home of a relative/friend your name must be on the rental lease or tenant agreement statement, or you must have an active utility bill in your name at that residence.

*NOTE: We will not pay rent directly to friends or relatives with whom you are living. It will go directly to the landlord.

-No children under the age of 18 in your custody unless you are applying for the representative payee (RPY) family case, and you must have legal guardianship of child/children.

-Zero Income

-Must reside within Decatur Township boundaries for at least 6 months.

If you are homeless, you will need 2 affidavits of homelessness signed and notarized.

If you do not meet these eligibility requirements you will not be eligible for General Assistance.

Grant is $200.00 monthly and can be used for any combination of the following:

• Rent
• Utility Bill (power, water, garbage)
• Transportation (Decatur Public Transit)
• Kroger (personal needs)
